A community of young Christian writers is gradually growing all across the world. Here is where we can find each other and discuss the ins and outs of writing for Jesus.
Ooh, these K. M. Weiland videos are good. Keep 'em coming. It's stuff I (am supposed) to already know, but it's always good to hear it again and be reminded.
This video was especially important to me because I'm currently struggling with the question of whether my next novel should be narrated from first person or third person. I have a character who I want the reader to resonate with (I hear first person is best for that), but I have so much awesome stuff going on in the story that I don't think my MC could catch it all and communicate it to the reader, if that makes sense. I'm throwing my character into a war, but I want to share the political side of the war and give broad sweeping panorama shots of massive battles, and I'm afraid that not all of that fits in my MC's perspective. Anyway, I think I'm decided now. But I'll give a few practice runs with both POVs and see which I like best (I hear this is recommended).
I'm glad you like the K.M. Weiland videos. :) I'll have to scrounge up a few more to post up.
For your story, it does sound like 3rd person would be better. Have you ever read "The Bronze Bow"? It's writing style is very personal to the character, but it's not 1st person. It's sort of hard to explain. Same thing with "A Father's Promise" (both of which are really great books, by the way. I would recommend them to anybody.).
Yeah, I've decided on third person. Ooh, we read "The Bronze Bow" as a family, but I was around nine at the time... so I don't remember it very well. Never heard of the other book. Thinking over the other books I've read, I think 3rd person is definitely for me.
